| About me: | I am a completely unique creation of God, just as you are, and thank God that we are all different or life would be very boring! A sunny day, enjoying a long lunch with friends, my football team winning (I wish it happened more often :( ), sharing an amusing experience and many other things put a smile on my face. I try to laugh as much as possible as life is too short to take everything too seriously. However, I do take my spiritual journey seriously and strive to be true to the Church's teachings and Gospel-just because "everyone does it" does not make it right or acceptable to God. I have attended the Traditional Latin Mass for a short time after a journey seeking the truth that is often lacking in modern preaching in my opinion. I have been drawn to the reverence, lack of distractions (i.e no talking) and absolutely no liturgical novelty. The simple things in life bring me the most pleasure - a cycle or walk in the park, a BBQ with a few friends, catching a movie (although I seem to doze off for a few minutes these days in my old age), the roar of the crowd at a football game and music. I am a casual person by nature and feel more at home in a pair of jeans than a suit and tie. I enjoy having a laugh about and discussing the many real life experiences which often have a comical twist. My travels have stimulated me- I have been fortunate to have seen much of the world on business and pleasure. I worked abroad for over 10 years and saw many places through business travel that I would otherwise never have visited. I particularly like places that are not "touristy" so that I can feel the authentic culture of the place. Regular exercise is part of my routine but I am not obsessive about it. I like walking in a National Park nearby and enjoying nature while burning off a few calories. Although I like being out and about I also am comfortable having a quiet day at home reading the newspaper. The battle against God's will in our world is quite fierce. For example, there is unprecedented public support for same sex unions, embryonic stem cell research, contraception, abortion and divorce etc. I therefore deeply respect those who are countercultural and stand up for Christian values as this does require some strength of character when you are often a solitary voice in the crowd. However, I also like the saying "love the sinner but hate the sin" and when voicing my beliefs I try not to do so aggressively. I profoundly believe in the sanctity of marriage and that marriage is a lifelong commitment ending only when God's call to Heaven occurs ("from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part").
